Every WWE Royal Rumble SURPRISE ENTRANT Rumors You NEED To Know! | WrestleTalk

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
The holidays are over but who could care when the Royal Rumble is just around the corner?
The Rumble continues to be one of the most anticipated events of the calendar and 2020
is no different. And I think, part of the fun is always to make predictions and read
the rumours leading up the event. With so many opportunities for surprises it is impossible
not to get excited at the prospect of another Royal Rumble. That anticipation of counting
down from 10 to 1, the ARRRR sound, and the first hit of someone’s music. Will it be
Adam Cole bay bay? Or will it be Zack Ryder? So we decided to celebrate one week from the
Rumble gathering together our list of the biggest rumours surrounding this year’s
event. So from all the rumoured returns to the rumoured winners, let’s get ready to
Royal Rumble. And not that Royal Rumble, that’s a very different one. The 2020 Royal Rumble will mark ten years
since Edge returned from injury to win the 2010 Royal Rumble match. Since his appearance
at SummerSlam 2019, rumours have circulated regarding the Rated R Superstar’s return
to the ring. His SummerSlam appearance saw Edge deliver a spear to Elias in front of
his hometown crowd in Toronto, marking the first time he has been allowed to do anything
physical in WWE since his retirement. Since then, reports have claimed that Edge had been
cleared to return to action and although he has denied these reports, this seems like
a case of where there is smoke there is fire. Should Edge return to the ring in the Royal
Rumble it would be one of the more newsworthy returns in recent memory. A similar situation to that of Edge is the
current status of Paige. She was forced into retirement in December of 2017 and until now
there did not seem to be any chance of a return to the ring. Paige recently sent out a pair
of tweets, which have led to speculation that she could be eyeing a potential return. The
first tweet concluded by saying “my glory days are far from over”, while the second
said “I have a whole lot of career left in me. 2020 will be a good year for me”.
Paige’s injury kept her from competing in the first women’s Royal Rumble in 2018 but
a miraculous return could see the youngest ever Divas Champion enter her first Rumble
match in 2020. It should also be noted that she was used a lot during WWE’s media day
move to BT Sport, and she was a bit cagey on her answers when journalists asked about
the Rumble. Come on, you knew this one was coming. It
was always coming. CM Punk return confirmed. In all seriousness the return of CM Punk is
going to come up in discussion over potential rumours and returns. With Punk’s return
to the wrestling scene thanks to his appearances on PR Fluff Piece WWE Backstage, things appear
closer to happening than ever before. Paige had joked on Twitter that she would be entering
the men’s Rumble match and taking Brock Lesnar to suplex city, which Punk responded
to with a classic double Spider-Man meme. Punk has been one to stir the pot in the past,
but this could be the year that we finally see the in-ring return of the CM Punk. Punk
will be appearing on the final episode of Backstage before the Royal Rumble so if we
are going to get any details from him before the show this would likely be where it would
happen. Or not, as that show literally tells us nothing interesting about WWE. There is also a possibility we could see the
in-ring return of CM Punk’s IRL wife and former Diva’s Champion AJ Lee. Lee left
WWE shortly after Punk did, and hasn’t been on the best terms with the company seen as
though they fired her husband on their wedding day. She did tell a fan recently on Twitter
that she was very much retired, but Triple H has said that there is a chance we’ll
see both Punk and AJ Lee back in WWE. Stephanie McMahon also said last year, “I would love
to see AJ Lee back in the women’s division. I think AJ Lee was an incredibly compelling
character. I’m a big fan of AJ Lee’s, I really am. Some of our most interesting
and intriguing storylines were with AJ, and I think she deserves as much credit as every
other woman on our roster.” As has been said in the past with WWE, never say never.
We never tought we’d see Bret Hart or Ultimate Warrior come back, but they did. It’s not
out of the question that we’ll hear AJ Lee’s terrible music hit as that buzzer sounds at
the 2020 Royal Rumble. Oh man I’m going to take some heat for not liking that music. Another return that appears likely at this
point is that of former Raw Women’s Champion Nia Jax. Jax has been sitting on the sidelines
since undergoing double knee surgery in April and the last update on her condition was that
she was expected back in time for the Rumble. When asked on Twitter, Big Daddy Dave Meltzer
noted that Nia’s timetable made a Royal Rumble return at least a possibility. Of course,
it wasn’t specified whether Jax would return in the women’s Rumble match or the men’s
or even both as we saw last year. Yeah, remember when that happened? Jax posted on Instagram
that she was training at the Performance Centre again, which would make an in-ring return
quite likely. One return that would bring some NXT flavour
to the Royal Rumble would be the return of the Velveteen Dream. The Dream hasn’t competed
since he lost the NXT North American Championship to Roderick Strong on September 18. He has
been forced to the sidelines with a back injury, but his return date puts a possible Rumble
appearance in play. NXT is set to have an expanded role in this year’s Royal Rumble
match – with Triple H seemingly confirming the rumour that ten entrants would represent
WWE’s black and gold brand. An appearance by the Velveteen Dream would mark his first
ever main roster match. Cain Velasques seemingly confirmed his entry
in the Royal Rumble in his interview with Sun Sport while WWE was over promoting their
move to BT Sport. He said “I can win it, hell yeah, that’s my mentality for everything.
For everyone as well, that is how your mentality has to be. I’m going in to win this thing”.
Velasquez’s entry has not been confirmed by WWE as of right now so we will keep it
here as a rumour until further notice. He has not appeared for WWE since losing to Brock
Lesnar at Crown Jewel in October. It was reported that Velasquez signed a multi-year deal with
WWE, but he has yet to have his return date set. With Lesnar scheduled to enter the Rumble
at number one, the story of the match is set to be who will be the man to eliminate him.
And who better than his old rival, Cain Velasquez if WWE is interested in putting on a rubber
match between them for WrestleMania? The WWE Women’s division suffered in 2019
as soon as Ronda Rousey took a step back from the spotlight. Rousey hasn’t been seen since
being pinned by Becky Lynch in the main event of WrestleMania 35. It’s quite clear that
WWE’s Women’s Evolution was all based around pushing Rousey, so a WWE return would
inject the women’s division with that missing omph from creative. And several outlets have
said that Rousey making a surprise return in the 2020 Royal Rumble isn’t out of the
question. That brings us to the second part of the rumour, as Rousey is not only rumoured
to return, she’s rumoured to win – setting up a Lynch/Rousey rematch from last year’s
WrestleMania. Which will have Charlotte added for no real reason. I hope there’s more
arrests and suspensions and firings and apologising. While Rousey currently has the second-best
odds to win the women’s rumble, the best odds belong to her friend Shayna Baszler.
Baszler held the NXT Women’s Championship for almost all of 2019 and her losing the
title to Rhea Ripley would appear to give her the opportunity to move up to the main
roster, which reportedly has been the plan for some time. She was pushed very hard in
the build to Survivor Series, and the closing angle of that show was Becky Lynch standing
tall over her, and it’s been reported that Lynch vs. Baszler is set to be one of the
big Raw programs of 2020. For the same reasons that would make a Rousey return make sense,
Baszler would give Becky Lynch a new main event level opponent, just in time for WrestleMania.
For the time being, the smart money is pointing to either Rousey or Baszler being the last
woman standing. As for the men’s match, the odds put Roman
Reigns at the top of the chart. Reigns has been kept far away from the main event title
picture since his return from battling Leukemia, but that can’t last forever. Now, with ‘The
Fiend’ Bray Wyatt running through the SmackDown roster as Universal Champion it must be decided
who will end his reign of terror. All signs are pointing to Reigns being the one to face
Wyatt at WrestleMania 36 and what better way to get there than to have the Big Dog win
his second Royal Rumble match? Somehow, I think it is safe to say that Reigns winning
the match would receive a warmer reception than his first Rumble win in 2015.
These of course are just rumours and innuendo, and plans could be changing on a minute-by-minute
basis. WrestleVotes reported that a 10+ year WWE employee told them that they’ve not
seen a January with such little of the WrestleMania card confirmed. Which would suggest that this
year’s Rumble could be more open than ever. Who do you think will win the Rumble match?

  1. I hope the number two entrance in the Royal Rumble is Kofi Kingston. Then thrown out by Brock in 8 seconds. 🙌🙌🤔💸

  2. If Roman Reigns wins all it's going to do is ruin his character and I'll ruin the fiends character because we all know they'll put over Roman reigns because they want him to hold a title and he will it'll just ruin Bray Wyatt character RIP fiend

  3. Personally I am really against the rumble winner going against The Fiend. It hurts the story of the character to me. I'd rather Roman just be the next target on his list because he does have issue with Roman since he had past with The Shield. Easy to do right there. Roman winning the rumble to set that up is just to give a notch to the big dog again which could hurt people warming up to him. He doesn't need achievements that are not necessary. People are more likely to warm up to him if he is the one being attacked rather than chasing another WM closing main event where he does it 5 times in less than 10 years.

  4. Is anyone else not that excited about the Rumble? I just don't see an exciting winner for either one except for Keith Lee and I'd want him going after Lesnar. Not a single woman makes me go, "I can't wait to see how they book that." Roman is too predictable. Get ready for him to be forced again. They didn't really learn anything. I am glad New Japan and AEW exist.

  5. Paige HAS lost of weight recently. She was a little hefty during her role as GM but she is looking fit af now. Maybe she's training.

  6. Drew McIntyre feels to me the one who could be one on one with Brock for title It seems like the final 4 men will be Reigns Drew Velasquez and Punk or Edge or Keith Lee while 4 women left will be Bazsler Rousey Flair and Ripley

  7. i hope nia returns. screw ronda. aj would be awesome but doubt that. but come on .. no comments about the end? give wrestletalk as? LOL. she didnt even intro herself 😛

  8. @wrestletalk notice that amongst your merch you are lacking a “The Other One Luke Owen” t-shirt any plans to correct this?

  9. Yaaaaaaay i can't wait for lousy Rousey to come back and start burying and injuring nearly the entire women's division again

  10. They can do The Fiend vs Roman Reigns with storytelling not another Rumble win a younger talent should win
Also I then think Dominic Mysterio debut at the Royal Rumble

  11. WWE has kinda wasted a few surprises recently…Maybe wasted isn't the word but they could have been saved for the Rumble and been much bigger…Like John Morrison, The Usos, Sheamus, Alex Shelly, The Big Show…Even Samoa Joe & Kane, Granted they both had story line reason to make their returns a little early….But my point is I have to imagine they have some really big surprises planned for the Royal Rumble, Or else why wouldn't they have saved at least some of these people for Surprise Rumble Entrants & Rumble Returns….Unless they dont wanna have too many, or have them over shadowed….Maybe saving the biggest ones?? 🤔

  12. I think they have enough talent on main rosters they wouldn't need anybody from NXT to show up but if I had to pick one, would definitely be Keith Lee!!!!! They Seriously need to have either more entries or a Mid Card and a High Card Rumble

  13. Sasha banks with a turn on Bayley leaving Becky still open to face Shayna/Ronda at WM. Cain will eliminate Brock to set up a WM title match. Really don’t want Roman to win but that’ll prolly happen.

  14. Save you from watching

    #10 – Edge
    #9 – Paige
    #8 – CM Punk
    #7 – AJ Lee
    #6 – Nia Jax
    #5 – Velveteen Dream
#4 – Cain Velasquez (confirmed, but not by WWE – no return date set)
    #3 – Ronda Rousey
    #2 – Shayna Baszler
#1 – Roman Reigns to win

    Thank me later

  15. Cain Velasquez versus Brock in UFC Brock actually came out to enter the Sandman, and yes the entrance went longer than the fight, and yes still the amazing entrance look it up.

  16. If Nia returns, she should win. Not cause I think she deserves it over other contestants, but because she is someone they care about, this boosting even a tiny interest back into the women's divison

  17. I wanna see Banks vs Paige if she returns. There's a good story there between these two.
Like Bork Laser and Hardcore Holly.

  19. So, what odds on HHH @30?

Actually, if Edge is in then HHH is likely to ensure a safe elimination. Similar with Punk.

  20. I miss those days when surprise return/debut really meant something…. there was no Twitter, YouTube or Instagram back then…. seriously guys I miss those golden days. Today in Internet era there is no surprise return at all😔☹️

  21. What if they actually build to a Cain vs Brock rematch for WM…Like Cain eliminates Lesnar..And sets up their feud for WM…🤔

  22. For one year I think WWE should take a huge risk and have someone totally random win. Someone nobody would expect, Like Jinder Mahal, Alister Black, Buddy Murphy. They seem to not have reasons in doing what they do now, So why not just throw in a wild card nobody would expect. Give a new face a chance, Not a familiar one.

  23. Lesnar wins the rumble, but at the end the fiend shows up and attacks lesnar which sets up title vs title at wrestlemania
