WWE RUMOR: Paige In Denial That In-Ring Career Is Over Last week, PWInsider.com announced that Paige was going to have to give up her in-ring career, as doctors refused to clear her to wrestle again. For those who aren’t aware, the former Diva’s Champion suffered a shoulder injury during a Dec. 28 house show after taking a kick from Sasha Banks. After this news came out, Paige shared this interesting photo on Instagram, with a telling caption:Amid rumors that Paige may announce her retirement on Monday Night Raw, from Hollywood Life is reporting that an insider told them “she’s been struggling to acknowledge that her wrestling career is probably over for good. ” On top of that, a source said “she doesn’t really believe it and is actually hoping for a miracle to someday wrestle again. Paige missed over a year of action after undoing neck surgery, and was also suspended for violating the company’s wellness policy twice. PWInsider said that Paige’s neck surgery is similar to the one that forced Hall of Famer Edge to retire in 2011 – ending his storied career at age 37.Though one can understand Paige’s desire to continue wrestling, WWE doctors will never make exceptions. Daniel Bryan wanted to be released so he could fight in another promotion, but WWE wouldn’t clear him and convinced the main event star to retire. Paige is only 25 years of age, and was just in the midst of her prime years. She returned to WWE programming in November, introducing the Absolution faction with Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose.A main event star in the female division, Paige was also set to make history by appearing in the very first women’s Royal Rumble match at the Jan. Barring an absolute miracle, she’ll sadly have to miss out on that big event as well. We’ll see if she makes a major announcement on Monday Night Raw.
